2_Liter_Turbo's 1990 Nissan Skyline GTR "Weekend Fun" Project

(1/47) > >>

2_Liter_Turbo:
I picked up a long time dream car of mine last summer, an original TH1 (Dark Blue Pearl) 1990 Skyline GTR  8) I've wanted one since I was a kid playing Gran Turismo 1, and I finally was able to pull the trigger! Since I have the 240SX project as my racecar, I plan to keep this a clean street car with decent power for weekend fun.

Mod list when I bought it was pretty limited, but I like it that way.

- Nismo Front Strut Bar
- Up Garage Bought Generic Rear Strut Bar
- Blitz Coilovers
- Blitz SUS Intakes
- Unknown Test Pipe
- Unknown HID Kit
- Nismo Shift Knob
- Blue interior LEDs
- Blitz Nur Spec Exhaust
- Bee*R Twin Blow Off Valves
- 18x9 +20 Grenade GX-01 Wheels

Before I started doing anything to it, I wanted to do a quick photo-shoot of it as it sat. I had my buddy Chris take the photos as he's a lot of better than I, so here they are!

I have since updated the interior a little bit. Replaced the stereo deck with an old Alpine unit I had from my S13 and installed a Nardi deep corn wheel with works bell hub, as well as a new shift boot, e-brake boot, and center console lid cover. The latter three and the steering wheel are all black leather with blue stitching.

I also installed a new Koyo radiator, Samco hoses, and a Greddy pulley kit. First step at improving the cooling system is done. Looking to do more, but this should do for now.

2_Liter_Turbo:
I also received all four of my Advan GTs! On my bathroom scale, they came to 19.6lbs. Not terrible for an 18x10 +22 wheel!

I also installed my Ikeya Formula -5mm front upper control arms. They added another .5° of negative camber.

2_Liter_Turbo:
Threw the AdvanGT stickers on right after I picked the wheels up from the tire shop. Had them install some Nitto NT05s in 275/35/18. I was actually surprised how much stretch was on the tires. I think I should have gone with 285s... oh well, lol.

2_Liter_Turbo:
I took some pictures the morning after I put the wheels on, but they didn't turn out that well. My camera has been having some issues focusing correctly lately, but this is what I got!

I honestly like the wheel fitment with stock fenders. I do need to roll the fronts just a hair, but I think the +22 offset is perfect. Other than the front of the fender liner and the top of the wheel arch of the fender on large bumps, the tires don't rub anywhere. I do want to lower the front a little more, it's a tad higher than the rear.

I also installed a set of Nismo front lower control arms which gave me a bit more negative camber up front. I am now at -2.2° on one side and -2.4° on the other. Variation may be due to my uneven garage floor. I'll have to get it aligned soon to get some more accurate numbers.
